Baba Vanga, born as Vangeliya Pandeva Gushterova, on October 3, 1911 in Strumica, Ottoman Empire (now in Northern Macedonia). Baba Vanga was a premature baby. She was very weak. On May 10, 1942, she got married to a Bulgarian Army soldier Dimitar Gushterov. They had adopted a daughter named Veneta. Her father was 1st World War veteran named Pando Surchev. Her mother Paraskeva Surcheva died when Baba Vanga was only three years old. In 1942, her brother Vasil died. She had a sister named Lyubka. Her granddaughter, Danijela Vranic, is a musician.
At the age of 12, she lost her vision after getting stuck in a sandstorm in Macedonia. The sand entered her eyes and damaged her nerves. She had eye surgery three times. All three were unsuccessful.

She was named Baba Vanga for her divine powers. Baba means grandmother, Vanga was adopted from her village’s name, Vangeliya.
By now you must have realised that her predictions are really coming true this year. Whether it is crisis in Europe or disasters in Asia all are coming true.
In the late 1980s, she declared herself a devoted Christian and said that St. Petka was her patron saint. At that time, she had relocated to Rupite village.
In 1989, her niece, Krasimira Stoyanova, published a biography on the life of Baba. The biography was later translated into Russian, including The Bulgarian prophet Vanga and Confessions of a Blind Clairvoyant.
She once shared that she wanted a church built in her name. On October 14, 1994, her dream came true. A church was built in her name using the money she had earned from her followers.
On August 11, 1996, she passed away due to breast cancer. She spent her last years in Sofia, Bulgaria. She was buried near her church.
Before her death, in her will, she wrote that her house should be turned into a museum. In 2008, the museum was started.
