Juan Carlos Florián Silva Now Colombia’s Equality Minister
The president of Colombia officially announced that the former adult actor Juan Carlos Florián Silva would be the Minister of Equality and Equity of the country.
The announcement was made on August 1, 2025, which created a wave of controversy along with a symbolic shift in the administration of the country. Earlier, the position was held by Carlos Rosero. But what made the controversy was his past profession, which sparked a public debate among the critics and the gay community.
The president defended Juan publicly and stated that no one should be excluded from public services based on their past profession.
Juan Carlos Florián Silva was born on October 20, 1982, in Ibagué, Colombia. He holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and a Master’s in Political Communication. While he was serving as the first Subdirector for LGBTI Affairs in the Secretariat of Social Integration, he received death threats for openly supporting the community.

After this, he was exiled to Paris, where he continued to work for the upliftment of the community. It was during this time that he joined the adult entertainment industry. Openly coming out as gay, he made content for a gay audience.
Juan Carlos Florián Silva has supported various other social welfare campaigns like Save the Children and Doctors Without Borders.
