Top Hindi Films of 2025: Highest-Grossing Releases, Ranked
Dhurandhar was the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025, closing at about Rs 1,355 crore worldwide – the only Hindi release of the year to pass Rs 1,000 crore. Chhaava and Saiyaara followed. The table below ranks the year by box office, and it shows a range rather than a single number for each film, because Indian box office figures are tracker estimates and the trackers do not agree.

Nobody audits these numbers
India has no audited, publicly filed box office record. Distributors do not publish verified returns, and the figures every outlet quotes come from trade trackers that estimate collections from reported ticket sales. That is why the same film appears at Rs 294.5 crore on one list and Rs 327 crore on another.
The spread is not random. It is widest on films with long tails or heavy overseas runs, and narrowest on films whose run was short and domestic. Mahavatar Narsimha and Housefull 5 differ by more than Rs 32 crore between published lists. Sitaare Zameen Par differs by Rs 10 lakh.
Treat any single box office figure, including the ones here, as an estimate with a margin of a few per cent – and be suspicious of any page that gives a number to two decimal places without saying who counted it.
Gross and net are different numbers, and lists mix them
The second reason figures disagree is that two different measurements share the same headlines. Worldwide gross is total ticket revenue everywhere. India net is domestic revenue after GST. The gap is large.

India net runs roughly 25 to 40 per cent below worldwide gross across these eight films. A list that ranks one film on its gross and the next on its net is not a ranking at all, and it happens often.
Two traps in the 2025 lists specifically
Dhurandhar was still in cinemas when the year-end lists were written. It opened in December 2025, so a top ten published on 1 January 2026 caught it at around Rs 1,068 crore. It closed at roughly Rs 1,355 crore. Any 2025 ranking compiled at the turn of the year understates the year’s biggest film by close to Rs 290 crore, and some of those lists are still online unchanged.
Kantara: Chapter 1 is not a Hindi film. It is a Kannada production, and it took around Rs 852 crore worldwide across all languages – more than every Hindi film of the year except Dhurandhar. Its Hindi version alone took about Rs 265 crore gross in India, which would place it inside the Hindi top ten. Lists that drop the all-language figure into a Hindi ranking inflate it by a factor of three. This page counts Hindi films only, so it is not in the table above.
What the year actually looked like
Two of the year’s biggest successes were not the films the industry expected. Saiyaara, a musical romance, took more than Rs 568 crore. Mahavatar Narsimha, an animated mythological film, cleared Rs 294 crore – a figure animation had not reached in Hindi cinema before.
Dhurandhar was made for a reported Rs 225 crore and returned roughly six times that worldwide. On the closing figures it became the highest-grossing Hindi-language film in the domestic market.
Trade coverage at year-end characterised 2025 as a year in which several large star vehicles fell short of expectations while smaller and unconventional films carried the box office. That is a characterisation rather than a measurement, and this page does not attempt to score films on anything other than what they took.
What this page does and does not claim
Ranking method. This is a box office ranking, not a critical one. Box office is the only measure of a 2025 Hindi film for which numbers are published at all, so it is the one used. It is not a claim about quality, and nothing here should be read as a review.
Sourcing. Figures were taken from three independently published year-end rankings plus closing-collection reporting, and every film is shown as a range where those sources differ. No figure has been averaged, smoothed or invented to make the table look tidier.
What the figures are not. None of these numbers is audited. There is no Indian equivalent of a filed, verifiable box office return, and trade trackers estimate. The ranges in the first table are the honest expression of that.
Rank order is approximate at the margins. Where two films’ published ranges overlap – Sitaare Zameen Par and Housefull 5, for instance – their order depends on which source you use. One widely published list even ranks Raid 2 above Sitaare Zameen Par while giving Raid 2 the lower figure.
Scope. Hindi-language films released theatrically in 2025. Dubbed versions of films made in other languages are excluded from the ranking, direct-to-streaming releases are excluded because comparable revenue is not published, and no budget or profit figure is given except where a source stated one.
