Twenty-seven seasons of the main US Big Brother have been completed, from Eddie McGee in 2000 to Ashley Hollis in September 2025. Season 28 is on air as this page is written and has no winner yet. The table below gives every winner, every runner-up and the final jury vote. Season 1 is the one entry that does not belong with the others, and the reason is explained under the table.

Why season 1 does not sit in the same column as the rest
Most winners lists open with “Eddie McGee, season 1, 2000” and carry straight on to season 2. That hides the fact that he won a different game from everyone below him.
Season 1 followed the original Dutch format. The public evicted the housemates, and the public picked the winner – McGee took it on 59 per cent of a viewer vote. There was no jury. From season 2 onwards the evicted houseguests became that jury, and the game turned into the one people recognise now, where the last two are judged by the people they beat.
The money was arranged differently too. Season 1 paid $500,000 to the winner, $100,000 for second place and $50,000 for third. No season since has paid third place anything like that.
So Eddie McGee is season 1’s champion, and the entry belongs in the table. It just is not comparable to the twenty-six that follow it, and any list that presents it as though it were is flattening the show’s own history.

The increase came in 2021, at season 23 – not recently, and not at season 27. Pages still quoting a $500,000 grand prize are describing the show as it was up to 2020. America’s Favourite Houseguest is a separate award voted by viewers and was introduced part-way through the run, so it does not apply to the early seasons at all.
Twenty-seven winners, or thirty-two?
Both figures get published, and the difference is the spin-offs. The main numbered series has twenty-seven champions. The United States has also run four separate Big Brother titles that produced winners of their own.

Two of these are not really the same contest. Over the Top streamed on CBS All Access rather than airing on television, ran with thirteen houseguests, went back to a viewer vote instead of a jury, and paid $250,000. Reindeer Games was a ten-day December event with nine returning players, decided by a bracket of competitions with no vote at all, for $100,000.
Counting the main series only gives twenty-seven winners. Counting every US Big Brother title gives thirty-two. Neither number is wrong, but a page should say which one it means.
What the table shows when you read down it
- Nicole Franzel is the only person to have won two US Big Brother titles – season 18 and Reindeer Games. Nobody has won the main series twice.
- Cody Calafiore lost the season 16 final 7-2, came back six years later and won season 22 by a unanimous 9-0.
- Dan Gheesling did it in reverse: a 7-0 sweep in season 10, then a 6-1 defeat in season 14 – beaten by Ian Terry, who had idolised him.
- Paul Abrahamian is the only houseguest to finish runner-up twice, in seasons 18 and 19 back to back, losing both by 5-4.
- Season 8 is the only final contested by a parent and their child. Dick Donato beat his daughter Daniele 5-2.
- Seasons 18, 19 and 20 all finished 5-4, the longest run of one-vote finals in the show’s history.
- Rachel Reilly won season 13 and returned to the house as a player in season 27, fourteen years later.
Season 28 is on air now
Season 28 premiered on 9 July 2026 with sixteen houseguests and a “Time Trip” theme, hosted by Julie Chen Moonves on CBS with next-day streaming on Paramount+. The grand prize is $750,000. Live feeds ran on Paramount+, Pluto TV and YouTube. There is no winner yet, and this table will be extended after the finale rather than before it.
What this table does and does not claim
Winners, runners-up and jury votes were cross-checked across two independent published lists covering the full run, and every name and every tally matched. Seasons 26 and 27 were checked separately against the individual season records, as were both spin-offs that used a non-jury format.
Years. The year shown is the year the finale aired. That is why 2008 appears twice: season 9 ran through the winter of 2008 and season 10 through the summer of the same year. It is the most common source of confusion in lists like this one.
Votes. The tally is votes for the winner against votes for the runner-up. Season 1 carries no tally because there was no jury to cast one.
Spellings. Andy Herren, season 15, is printed as Andy Herron in some lists. Nicole Franzel appears as Nicole Franzel-Arroyo in coverage from 2023 onwards. Mike Malin and Dick Donato are almost always written with their nicknames, so those are kept here.
Final two only. The table records the last two standing. Third place is not tabulated, and rankings below the final two are a convention of list sites rather than something the show announces.
Not included. This page covers the United States editions. Big Brother Canada, Celebrity Big Brother UK and the other international versions run their own numbering and their own winners. The Indian version of the same format runs as Bigg Boss, and its winners list from season 1 to 19 is kept separately for the same reason.
