“Emmys 2025” was two ceremonies, not one

Both were held at the Peacock Theater. The Creative Arts ceremony handed out far more awards than the televised one, which is the single most useful thing to know when a win total does not match what you watched.
Beyond these two, the Daytime Emmys, the Sports Emmys, the News and Documentary Emmys and the International Emmys are separate ceremonies with their own winners. A page headed “Emmy winners 2025” is almost always describing the Primetime results only, as this one does.
Why win totals disagree

The Studio’s 13 is the figure quoted in most coverage, and it is correct – but only four of those were won during the broadcast. Severance is the same story: two on the night, eight the week before. These are the two programmes for which both figures were confirmed by the sources used here, so the table stops there rather than estimating the rest.
Network totals move the same way. On the night, HBO and HBO Max took seven awards, Apple TV+ and Netflix six each, Peacock five, CBS and Disney+ one each. Any network figure much larger than these is counting Creative Arts as well.
Records set in 2025
- The Studio’s 13 wins are the most for a comedy in a single year, passing The Bear’s 11.
- Owen Cooper, 15, became the youngest male acting winner in Emmy history for Adolescence.
- Tramell Tillman became the first Black man to win Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
- Last Week Tonight took Writing for a Variety Series for the eighth year running.
One trap worth knowing
The Studio won both Writing and Directing for a Comedy Series, but for two different episodes. Writing went to “The Promotion”. Directing went to “The Oner”. Several published lists put “The Oner” against both, and if you are checking a fact against one of those, that is where the error comes from.

The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards are scheduled for 14 September 2026 at the Peacock Theater, moving to NBC and Peacock. The Creative Arts ceremony is set for 5-6 September 2026. Nominations were announced on 8 July 2026, covering the eligibility window from 1 June 2025 to 31 May 2026.
